A Guide: How to Step Up Your Grooming Game in Your 30s

How to Step Up Your Grooming Game in Your 30s

This guide is approximately a 2-minute read.

Hey, 30 is still young! In fact, some people say 30 is the new 20, as most guys in their 30's finally have enough money to begin splurging a little and living it up.

While you still can consider yourself in the prime of your youth, your complexion and hair may be sending signals that remind you of your age. Many guys will discover their first wrinkles in their 30s, and it's not uncommon for men to start noticing signs of thinning during the fourth decades of their lives.

You don't have to panic, though. By following some simple grooming tips for guys in their 30s, you can address these problems and look good every day.

Tip #1: Collagen is your new best friend.

Collagen is the stuff that helps to keep your skin resilient and resistant to wrinkling, and sadly, levels of it can start to drop each year once you turn 30.

By adding a serum or a night cream to your regimen that contains collagen or collagen-stimulating Vitamin C, you can help to maintain skin elasticity with age.

An example of a serum is the Gentlemen’s Facial Serum from Brooklyn Grooming:

Tip #2: Focus on your eyes.

In your 30s, you're more likely to wake up with dark circles or bags under your eyes after a night of fun or an evening spent tossing and turning.

Make sure you have an eye cream (or balm) in your medicine cabinet waiting to address those under eye concerns. Ones with caffeine and arnica are especially effective.

An example of an eye balm is the Restoring Eye Balm from Brickell:

Tip #3: Pump up the volume.

If your hair is starting to look a little thin, you're not alone. Many guys will finish out their 30s with thinner hair.

You can help to maintain fuller, thicker locks by using volumizing shampoos and conditioners now.

An example of a men's shampoo that promotes hair growth and increases hair strand thickness is the Daily Strengthening Shampoo from Brickell:

A little mousse in your styling regimen can boost volume even more. Changing to a layered hairstyle can also help to conceal signs of early thinning.

Tip #4: Be on hair patrol.

While your head of hair may be on the decline, your ‘brow, ear, and nose hair is probably growing strong at this age.

Now's the time to invest in a good ear and nose hair trimmer and to start thinking about eyebrow grooming either with tweezers or at-home waxing kits. You don't want to hit 40 with a uni-brow!

Tip #5: Slather on the sunscreen.

While most of these grooming tips for men in their 30's are unique to guys your age, this one is universal.

SPF is important through every stage of life. Not only does sunscreen protect you from sunburn and reduce your risk of wrinkling, but it also makes you less likely to develop melanoma.

Apply a moisturizer or sunscreen with SPF 15 sun protection every day. Use a higher SPF product when you'll be outside for long periods of time and make sure that you apply it every 2 hours.
